How early in the build process do you need to be involved?
The earlier the better. Ideally, we're brought in during the plan review phase — before permits are pulled — so we can run load calculations, finalize equipment selection, and coordinate duct routing with your framing layout. Last-minute HVAC involvement leads to compromised duct runs and equipment placement. Early involvement produces a better system and a cleaner install.
What HVAC systems do you recommend for new construction in Michigan?
For most new residential construction in Southeast Michigan, we recommend a high-efficiency gas furnace (96% AFUE) paired with a high-SEER2 central AC system, or a cold-climate heat pump system for homeowners prioritizing efficiency and lower operating costs. The right answer depends on the homeowner's priorities, the home's design, and budget. We'll walk through options during our initial conversation.
Do you provide load calculations and duct design, or does the builder need to supply them?
We provide both. Manual J load calculations and Manual D duct design are included in our new construction scope. We run them based on your floor plans and specifications — you don't need to source them separately. Michigan energy code requires load calculations for new construction, and we document them for permit submission.
Can you handle multiple units or a full subdivision?
Yes. We work with builders on single custom homes, small developments, and larger residential projects with multiple units. We pull the mechanical permit as the licensed HVAC contractor.
